Welcome to Naval Shipbuilding in northwest England

Welcome to the website of the Keep our Future Afloat Campaign. The non political "Keep our Future Afloat" campaign is led by UNITE and GMB trade unions with support from Furness Enterprise which acts as Secretariat and NWDA. Barrow in Furness Borough Council also supports our research and development.

The campaign aims to:

  • secure a steady drumbeat of naval shipbuilding orders to enable the Royal Navy to have the resources it needs to defend the UK and the sea lanes on which our trade depends in line with the National Security Strategy;
  •  sustain the high value skills in the UK's naval shipbuilding and submarine building yards, companies within their supply chains and at through life support bases.
